Marshal
1989 Swedish Gelding by Elektron
About Marshal
Marshal, or “Marty” is a 1989 Swedish Warmblood gelding owned by Sue McKeown. Sue has owned and trained Marty since he was 1 day old, and she took him all the way up through Grand Prix. I was fortunate enough to start leasing Marty in 2009. Marty has taught me more than any other horse possibly could. I learned all of the FEI work on him, and he took me to my first Prix St. George show.
Throughout 2010, he taught me the Grand Prix work and took me to my Gold Medal. Together, earned our way to two trips to the National Championship Festival of Champions at the USET Headquarters, in Gladstone, NJ. We competed in the “Young Adult Grand Prix Brentina Cup” division, an Intermediate II/Grand Prix equivalent designed for riders under 27 years old. In 2010 we were the Reserve Champion, and in 2011 we earned 4th place accolades before I aged out of that division.
Marty, now at age 25, has recently been retired from work. He has more than earned the right to spend his days leisurely, and does so at a quiet farm nearby where I can visit him often.
Marty is an extremely special horse and an enormous part of why I am able to do what I do today.
