About Erin Shea
My lifelong passion for horses has fueled many successes over the years.
I’ve fostered a healthy passion for horses from a very young age. I developed a love for dressage when I was a teenager and began my professional training under Sharon McCusker in 2006. During that time, I earned each of my USDF Medals. While riding Marine Bell, a Danish gelding owned by Kathy McHugh, I earned my USDF Bronze Medal, Region 8 Open 4th Level Champion honors, and NEDA Year-End Open 4th level honors. I also helped Marine earn scores factored into his finish as the 9th place Horse of the Year for 4th Level.
In 2009, I made my FEI debut riding Marshal, a 21 year old Swedish gelding owned by Sue McKeown. We successfully ended our first season together at Prix St. Georges with a 5th place finish at the Region 8 Championships at Open PSG, and 6th in the NEDA Year End awards for Open PSG. That year, I completed my Silver Medal.
In 2010 I took Marty up to Grand Prix, earned my Gold Medal, and qualified for the USEF Festival of Champions in Gladstone, NJ. In the Brentina Cup class (an Intermediare II and Grand Prix geared toward riders under the age of 28) we earned Reserve Champion Honors. Marty and I later earned 4th place honors in the NEDA Year End Open Grand Prix.
In 2011 Marty and I returned to the Festival of Champions once again in the Brentina Cup, finishing 4th place overall.
I specialize in (and enjoy) starting young horses, reinforcing correct groundwork and basics from an early age. In 2011 I competed Dionysus, a 2007 RPSI gelding bred and owned by Christine Shea. I started him under saddle, showed him in the USEF 4-Year Old Test and open Training Level classes, and in 2012 we showed together at First Level.
I’ve got big plans for 2014 and beyond! Check back soon for an updated show schedule!
